So, anyhow, I was watching Sailor Moon R last night (I'm not addicted; I can stop anytime I want!), and of course, Neo-Queen Serenity pops up. I love her dress, and I got it into my head that I should try and make it.
Of course, I look crummy in white, and if I intend to actually *wear* the thing, strapless isn't wise.. so the Neon Queen Agitation was born.
The plan is to have the bodice and underskirt in black satin (the cheesy bridal or baroque satin from Joanne's is fine), the bodice lined with light twill. The two layers of overskirt will be in tulle (doesn't need hemming, is light and floaty looking.)
The waist and top of the bodice will be trimmed with black pearls-by-the-yard (hey, I'm cheap) or else bellydance belt jingles. Or both. Or something that looks nice.
Since the dress is all in black, I decided that something other than a bow or a set of wings was needed, so I have a corded batwing cape attached to the straps. This gives me lots of swirly fabric, and lets me be pretentiosly gothic at the same time. Can't beat that!
The goal is to have this ready for my birthday. Not that anything special is happening, but you never know, and if I wanna dress up and be utterly silly, that is the one day that not even the grumpiest person can stop me.

Went to the fabric store. No black satin. No black sheer. no rattail. *grumble*
Bought deep forest green satin (it's a very pretty color), said forget the cape, and decided that I'd get trim later.
