We're going back to Buffalo for a weekend soon, for the wedding of two people very dear to me. We'll be in town for a few days, but it's been *forever* since we were there, and everyone wants to see us. And I, at least, want to see everyone.
But yeek! I don't think we'll have time to sleep, at this rate. I wanna see Ferris and the babies, I wanna see Margie and Little Mike, I wanna see Lara (since she'll be in town, too, and I haven't seen her in *years*), I've gotta be with Christa and Aaron, My mom and her Mike, Mikel's parents, my grandparents, his brother, his grandparents, Lontrallo (Mike) and Diane.. notice a certain name cropping up many many times? Yes, I can't escape people named "Mike." They're everywhere. It's almost as bad with people named "Cat." (or Kat) I know many many of them, too.
Anyhow, this got off track. I was heading up to the Continental. Well, about how I want to go to the Cont, anyhow. It's Buffalo's one-and-only goth club. (We had a second one for a while, but every time I went into Sanctuary, I saw people I didn't really want to see again, there was no dance floor, and they charged $4/glass for wines that you can buy for $5/bottle. They closed down after one of the Bondage nights got raided. Or something.)
The reason I want to go is not because it's a spectacular club (in fact, it's a total dive), but because: a) cheap drinks. I don't like paying $6 for something that isn't going to last very long and not do very much for me. (And they don't know what Vodka and Tea is here anyhow.) b) music I know. They play lots of scary industrial bands, and it seems that the DJs like to show off just how obscure their collections are sometimes. Yes, variety is nice and all, but yeek! If I don't know the song, I can't dance to it. (Well, I can, but I can't lose myself in it, which is why I dance.)
It's almost enough for me to want to become a DJ, just so I can play the stuff I'm used to hearing. But then I couldn't dance to it, and besides, someone would get bitchy because "it's the same music that they played last year" or something stupid like that.
I'd also get bitched at because I have a propensity to throw in completely off-genre stuff for the hell of it. Of course, this *could* get people to like it, and what I'm doing, but I'd rather not take chances.
