does any1 ov u hav a probkm wit this 2? I shure doo!!

This is why I have unsubscribed from some of my mailing lists. I'm certainly not a perfect typist, but I do go back and check for readability, generally.

People who post in one big block use very little punctuation horrid grammar and don't use spellcheckers drive me crazy. It is very difficult to read a block of text much like this one on a screen (or anywhere, for that matter) when it is not broken up. I don't mean long paragraphs of course those are welcome. oh yeah and a total lack of capitalization is another peeve. yes i do it 2 but i try not too. if i do it is either deliberate (such as within this paragraph or in a poem) or a typo that i missed. and when the poster does the '2 u' style typing and constant typos well that is horrible. most lists i'm on aren't that bad, perhaps one person who does that, and that person posts most infrequently. But these lists each have several individuals that post that way, and I simply don't have the time to wade though the posts that I deem illegible.

It is worth the time to slow down and check yourself as you type. I'm not a particularly quick typist (though I've finally gotten the hang of touch typing.. it's only taken me 8 years!), but I feel that the time it takes to make myself look good is more than worth it. Would you trust information that came from someone who presents themselves in SeAsAw TeXt? i sure wouldnt. *sigh*

I too used to eschew the shift key, and take the occasional shortcut, but I quickly grew beyond that. (If you need help typing correctly, start playing on a MUD or MUSH. The computer won't respond to incorrect commands, thus training you to type things out properly. And your fellow gamers will appreciate capitalization and punctuation.)
