Ok. I've had it.
I'm sick of those damn pop-up windows that have been appearing on various websites.
I understand the need to advertise, but I can honestly say that I will never buy Tide, use the Weather Bug (I don't think they even *have* a Mac version), or any other product that has popped up at me.
I had a new one today: a little blank box that refuses to come to the front of the screen so you can close it. I wound up closing my entire browser to get rid of it. (Java went off right afterwards.) This would have *majorly* sucked if I'd had a large history that I wanted to go back into. I would prefer not to be tracked though my travels. I don't care if I'm going from Sinfest to Doonsbury to Sluggy Freelance, and making no incriminating stops between. I do NOT want you ("you" being the marketing goon who dreampt up this nonsense) to follow me around.
"If you do nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear." Yeah, but I don't *want* targeted spam ("Lets see.. she reads online comics, goes to Darkside of the Net, and hits four news sites daily. She's going to be interested in this [insert product here].") If I *do* make a foray into the darker side of the net (and not just the pages with black backgrounds, either), I'd rather not deal with it once my initial curiosity is satisfied.
Oh well. I guess I'll survive with a stripped-down net. No cookies (well, ok, I cheat. I have a little utility that nukes any cookies I tell it to, but keeps the few that I want.) No java. And please please no sound! Oh hell.. it'll go faster this way anyhow. *grin* Sounds good to me!
